Alice POV-
I sat in the darkness of my cell. I just sat on the dirty floor, motionless because of the little things to do. I lifted my hand and softly brushed where I had been bruised by the treatment the horrible doctors gave me. The bump of the bruise felt warm against the coldness of the cells still air. My fingers gently glided down my arm, feeling all of the newly made bruises as well as the old ones that had swelled down and were almost gone.
I leaned back, pressing my back to the icy wall. The cold feeling made my skin full of goose bumps. I closed my eyes and just listened to the barely audible sounds outside of my cell. All was quiet until I heard faint footsteps echo in the hallway outside my cell. They were slow and paced. I thought I had listened to them for a year before the footsteps stopped in front of where my cell door was.
Keys jingled and a clunk followed the jingles. The cringes creaked as light entered my small cell. I opened my eyes, quickly raising my hand to shield my eyes from the sudden burst of light.
When my eyes had adjusted to the light I saw the familiar figure of my friend, Jason, standing in the doorway, blocking some of the hallway light. Jason had visited me many times in the many months I had stayed here. His handsome face that always wore a smile had given me the strength to keep enduring the messed up therapy that varied from day to day, now was in an expression of concern that made me feel worried.
Whats wrong? I asked. Jasons face softened but concern was still plastered on his pale face. For a moment Jason disappeared and I saw a hallway with two doors at the end. The vision faded and I was gazing into Jasons pale but handsome face. You are going to take me somewhere, arent you?
He smiled and nodded his head. You know me so well Mary.
I shook my head, slightly. You know of my condition and I told you already. Call me Alice. Mary sounds too plain.
I stood up too quickly, because I wobbled a little and tried to regain my balance. After I got my balance, I walked over to Jason, until I was in font of him. Jason gently slid his hand into my small one. I shivered a little from his icy skin.
Youre not asking me where Im taking you? he asked me.
Any place is better than here, I pointed to my cell.
He chuckled lightly but it sounded like bells ringing. His pale hand tugged lightly on my small hand. I followed him as he pulled me into the hallway. AS he walked, I noticed Jason seemed to be in a hurry. I realized he hadnt answered my first question and wondered why. I decided to as again.
Whats wrong? I asked in a low voice, being careful that my voice couldnt be heard at the end of the hallway.
Only the sound of my footsteps kept it from being an awkward silence. I waited a few seconds for his answer. When it was clear he wouldnt answer, I tugged on his arm. Jason turned his head to me, but continued walking. For the first time I saw how handsome he was. His pale skin really brought out his brown hair color and complimented his fierce looking crimson eyes. His skin looked so smooth and made me want to touch it. I snapped back to reality when his eyes looked away from mine. I stopped and planted myself to the floor. I knew he could move me easily, but instead he stopped as well.
Please tell me whats wrong. I said. He smiled and placed a cold hand on my short black hair.
You are so cute. I will explain everything soon. He replied and continued walking.
I pouted even though I knew he couldnt see me. I kept up at Jasons face even though I had short legs. I hadnt known that I had been on the second floor until we descended stairs. When I stepped from the last stair step to the tile floor, he hissed. I looked at him from the side, surprised. His teeth were grinding against each other. His eyes were focused on something. I followed his line of sight and saw two people standing guard. I saw that behind them was a dark gray door.
Youre taking me out of here? I asked.
Im sorry Alice. I was going to explain to you, but youll have to watch and understand. I will explain if you dont understand. Jason said. I was confused.
What do you me- I stopped my question when Jason disappeared from my side. I looked around me and then I saw him in between the two guards that were now lying on the ground. The guards were turned in unnatural angles. I presumed they were dead.
But how? How could they be dead if they were just alive a second ago? I already knew the answer to my question, but I found it hard to believe. I started walking toward Jason, a little frightened by what I had seen o more of what I did not. Jason turned to me and didnt seem to be breathing. I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I looked at the floor, not wanting to meet his eyes.
Are you scared of me Alice? Do you want to run away? he asked me in a sorrowful voice. My head shot up at him, determined to stand strong.
I am scared, but only a little. No, I dont want to run away from you. You are my friend and I trust you completely even if you slaughter a million people. I replied in a strong voice. Jason smiled and hugged my. He stepped back and grabbed my shoulders looking straight into my eyes.
Alice, Im glad you said that because now you have to put all your trust into me. Im a vampire and Im going to turn you into a vampire. He told me.
Why?
Alice, do you remember the young man that passed through the asylum a few hours ago?
Yes. The one with the same pale skin as your and the same red eyes, except he had blonde hair. I answered. Jason nodded.
He wants you and I am not going to let him kill you, so I have to change you. Are you okay with that? he asked me. I thought about the idea of being a vampire. I didnt know too much about the subject but I trusted Jason and agreed with him. Jason led me outside where I looked at the outside world of the asylum. It seemed as the world of green I had never knew disappeared replaced with gray walls casted by shadows.
Jason slid his teeth on the surface of my neck. I could slightly feel the razor sharp teeth. Jason hesitated at the cape of my neck.
Go ahead. I said and closed my eyes. Then Jason sunk his teeth into my neck and I felt fire. It seemed like it was spreading through my body. The heat seemed to melt my skin and I let out a scream but I couldnt hear it. Then all was black.
